Epe unveils smart museum, e-library plan

The Epe Local Government says it is championing a bold fusion of heritage and high-tech with the unveiling of an ultra-modern museum and e-library project set to transform Epe into a hub of cultural preservation and digital learning in Lagos State.

Currently under construction, the dual-purpose facility is positioning Epe at the intersection of tradition and innovation, with plans to offer interactive heritage exhibits alongside a technology-enabled library tailored to support education, research and civic engagement, Princess Surah Animashaun, Chair of Epe Local Government says in a  statement seen by Technology Times.

LG chief: We want to make Epe a 21st-century local government

“This initiative reflects our unwavering resolve to elevate Epe’s status as a safe, attractive, and business-friendly environment,” Animashaun says, describing the landmark development as a key milestone in her administration’s broader agenda to build a smarter, future-ready community.

Designed with modernity in mind, the complex is housing multifunctional halls for lectures, community training and digital upskilling, while also serving as a shared space for residents, students, and visitors to explore Epe’s rich past and fast-evolving future.

“This project is more than just brick and mortar. It is a vision to make Epe a 21st-century local government in every sense of the word—with the potential to drive tourism, attract investment, and foster economic development,” Animashaun adds.

With Lagos State powering forward under the Greater Lagos Rising blueprint, Animashaun is urging tourists, educationists and investors to take a closer look at Epe as a rising destination reflecting the state’s push for innovation-led growth.

The council chief is assuring that the project is running on schedule and within budget, with clear frameworks in place to ensure sustainable operation once the facility opens its doors.

As Nigeria’s tech landscape continues evolving, Animashaun reckons that the Epe museum and e-library project is standing out as a compelling example of how local innovation is reshaping public infrastructure—infusing culture with code, and learning with legacy.
