ATCON: Anchor Telecoms, Backbone Connectivity CEOs enter race for Presidency   

Technology Times has confirmed that Mr Tony Izuagbe Emoekpere, Anchor Telecoms CEO, and Mr Ibrahim Dikko, Backbone Connectivity Nigeria Limited Managing Director/CEO, have entered the race to lead the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON).  

Both CEOs, Emoekpere and Dikko, are locked in the race to succeed Engineer Iyke Nnamani, Medallion Nigeria CEO and current ATCON President, at the ATCON National Executive Committee (NEC) General Elections 2023 expected to choose the new leadership of the influential telecoms trade group, scheduled for Tuesday April 4 at the Oriental Hotel in Lagos.

People conversant with the situation at ATCON told Technology Times that Nnamani’s decision not to run for a second term has thrown the race open to the two CEOs of the Nigerian telecoms companies who are in the succession race.

Technology Times also learnt that for the First Vice President’s position, Mr. Muhammed Rudman, Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN) CEO will vie against Myke Ofili, Coloplus Worldwide Services Limited CEO

The Second Vice President’s position will pit Mr. Ejikeme Azubike Onyeaso, Ag. Associate Director, Network Permits, IHS Nigeria Limited against Mr. Ogungboye Razaq Muyiwa, eStream Networks Limited MD/CEO.

So far, the sole contender for ATCON’s National Secretary is Mr. Olawale Owoeye, Cedarview Communications MD/CEO.

Also the sole contender for the position of ATCON’s Coordinator, Consulting group is Mrs. Aderonke Adeyegbe, Comercio Limited CEO.

The same goes for the position of ATCON’s Coordinator, Internet Services Providers, which has seen Mr. Lekan Balogun, NetaccessSystems Limited MD/CEO emerge sole contender.

This is also the situation for the position of ATCON’s Coordinator, Value Added Services Providers that has also seen Mr. Martins Shakarho, Interra Networks Limited General Manager, Corporate emerge the sole contender.
